sony webcam problem

hi,

i bought a sony DCR-TRV 460 video camera a little while ago that also has support for USB streaming so it can work as a webcam. ive had no problems setting this up in windows but in linux
ive had no luck finding anything regarding this issue on google.

When booting up however it is picked up as an unknown audio device.

i would like to be able to use this camera as a webcam as well as be able to get my movies off of it for editing without having to go into windows every time.

I have no idea where to go on from here and any help will be very much appriciated.

PS: My computer stats if needed are:

AMD Athlon XP 2700+
Asus AV8X-X motherboard
Fedora Core 3
Kernel Release: 2.6.11-1.14_FC3

--EDIT--
Here is the lsusb:
Code:
[e@localhost ~]$ /sbin/lsusb

I don't think you can use the usb connection in linux. Sony ships a driver for windows with the camera, since no driver exists for linux (that I know of) you can't use it. However for getting video off of tape via firewire and editing, I use kino.
