Hi all
This should be put down somewhere.
1) Followed a bunch of links and had wireless up without too much hassle.
2) Lost the install... Re-installed though forgot which exact rpms were used previously - not funny.
3) In trying just about every method I "re-discovered" dkms.
4) rpms:
dkms-2.0.13-1 <-- see
http://freshmeat.net/projects/dkms/
ipw3945d-1.7.22-3
dkms-ipw3945-1.1.2-1
ipw3945-firmware-1.13-1
ieee80211-1.2.15-14.fc6.at
ieee80211-kmdl-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6-1.2.15-14.fc6.at
Do not mix atrpm & freshrpm packages.
Thanks to Diegof & Fedora Forums.

5) Everytime the machine was rebooted the wireless was left switched on & I couldn't get it to work! dmesg yielded "ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready". This sounds strange but then I shutdown, killed the switch then rebooted. iwlist, iwconfig and "dhclient eth1 -1" started it right up.
Hope this helps someone
