Some SCSI info && SATA proposition

I have an ASUS P4C800 DELUXE and i wanna put a SCSI disk. For that do i have to put and a SCSI controller ?? If so, can u propose a good one so that i can have compatibility with Linux(and maybe Solaris but i don't care so much)
The HD disk might be a Seagate Cheetah.
Now for storage i am gonna buy a Seagate, but my question is SATA or IDE ??well i've heard that SATA are better but does it worth it's money ??
The SCSI HD will only have Linux(and maybe Solaris or *BSD but i don't care for those two as much as i do for Linux )
The storage HD will be for storage and of course windows

1. Yes you will need a SCSI controller. I didn't check out the specs on the motherboard but I'm guessing it does not have a built in controller. I have used both Adaptec and Tekram PCI cards and both are well supported. But sure to check the hardware compatability list for whatever distro etc you have installed.

IMHO if your going to all the trouble of using a SCSI drive for the OS then go ahead and use a SCSI drive for storage. AFAIK not all SATA controllers are supported in linux. Again, check the hardware compatability lists.
