Question SODIMM Memory Type

I have been having some problems with new memory that I have purchased for my laptop. I previously had two 64MB chips (PC100). I purchased some new 256MB chips (PC100 is what the eBay auction had them listed as). When I put the new chips in the laptop tries to power on but then keeps cycling and powering on and then off over and over again. I looked at Dell's forums (this laptop is an inspiron 600 MHz) and other users reported the same problem noting that it happened when they put PC133 memory in their laptop instead of PC100. I have been trying to identify my particular memory to see if maybe it is really PC133 but I have been unsuccessful. I am posting here with the hopes that someone may be able to help me identify the memory.

The chips are Siemens brand and the number on the chips is: HYB39S256160T-8A

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

try using 1 256Mb then the other to see if one is dead, also your laptop maynot be able to handle 512Mb.
