smc 2662w v.3 fedora core 2

OK... I've been searching google for a while and tried a buncha stuff ... but can't seem to get this working... (i'm a newb)

k... well I installed fedora core 2.. and just to be safe.. did a "everything" install... I got the newest cvs of the at76c503a (at76c503a.berlios.de/) driver so it's like pre 0.12 or somethin... and I make, and make installed it... looked like it intalled fine...

I then plugged in my adapter and lsmod said it loaded at76c503-rfmd-acc and some other stuff (looked like what it said in the instructions.. cept it's the accton driver which is correct...)

anyway... I type in iwconfig... and it freezes.. actually.. sometimes it shows up for the first time w/o any info.. then the second time it crashes.... when I force reboot, there's like a kernel panic or something.. and only when I remove the adapter does the error go away, and I can boot.. once I boot back in... I can plug in again and it doesn't crash.. only when I try to look at the wireless config does it crash... my logs don't show anything.... cause it just shows.. like loaded correctly.. then system restart...

wierd thing is... it allows me to like
iwconfig wlan0 channel 11
and it works fine... only when I try to view it.. it crashes.... also I kinda needa view it cause if I enter all my info there... and do ifconfig wlan0 192.168.x.x... it doesn't work properly.. so I need the output to debug it !!

Is this a 802.11g card? From my understanding (see Finegan's notes at the top of the Hardware Forum) most 802.11g cards dont' work 'cause their based on crappy Broadcom chipsets.

I have a SMC EZConnect (can't remember model number off the top of my head) that I stuggled with for a few days and then gave up on. Similarly, I could use iwconfig, but the settings never stayed in the card. I would set it up, and it would accept the configuration, but then wouldn't reflect it.

What a pain. Lucklily I rushed out there to buy 802.11g before it was a standard. Now I'm wishing I didn't.
