Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Smartphone that works well with Linux? (syncing etc.)

I keep forgetting those appointments! I need a smartphone with a solid event calendar application that reminds me of things. Above all, it should be easy to sync with my PC (and maybe even with my remote server?). It should be a phone because I don't want to carry two devices around all the time. Which smartphones do you have? What are their advantages/disadvantages? Which model would you recommend?

Thanks,
moo-cow

It would help if you told us what Linux distribution you are using and who your cellphone provider is, since cellphone providers can use different technologies.

Also, which models are recommended by your cellphone provider, and how much money do you want to spend?

I'm using Debian, almost anything should run/compile on it. In the first place I only want to be able to sync the thing with my PC locally, connecting to my remote server would only be a nice extra (I use a cheapo prepaid card from a noname provider anyway, so I suspect that they support the minimum of current technology). Let's say maximum price is 400$, though I would pay more if the quality is really good. From my Linux experience I have learned:
Good software is free, good hardware expensive!

Also, I would like to know which Linux applications have good syncing capabilities. The only one I know of is Evolution, which I find a bit heavy-weight.
