Question Small TV Tuner problem..

Hi All

I have a Chronos Video Shuttle 2 tv card and I have been trying to get it to work on mandrake 9.1 for quite some time. I have tried several different things but have now hit a brick wall. Perhaps someone here can help...

Firstly, I am not sure if this card is suppossed to work on mandrake, if it is not please let me know. But I came across this website that provide some drivers for saa7130 based tv cards, but being so new to linux I don't know how to install them.

Also here is a list for my lspcidrake output for your reference..

They have a source code tarball there... and unfortunately it looks like you're going to have to also recompile your kernel and patch it in order to get this kid to work right. Just d/l and unpack the file saa7134-0.2.7.tar.gz with:

tar xvzf saa7134-0.2.7.tar.gz

And read the README, its not a great README, but its better then nothing. You can just try to build the drivers straight off with:

make

but most likely it will error for not having A) the kernel source installed (its an RPM usually not put on in a "normal" mandrake install, but DrakConf or whatever their RPM tool is will install it and its dependencies from the CDs) B) hopefully Mandy's heavily modded kernel comes with these patches, if not, you're going to have to mess with patching the kernel source and then recompiling the kernel and installing it... kinda a headache, but sometimes necessary for stuff like this.

Cheers,

Finegan
