slow usb 2.0 flash performance on 2.6.31-15-generic

I am having very slow performance from ubuntu 9.10 - gnome - kernel 2.6.31-15-generic when copying files to usb flashdisk drive.
It starts very fast(3-4MB/S) but after a while it slows down to speed of 200,300KB/S.
700mg movie file took me around 4hour to copy.

You can try the following as root.
