I have DSL-lite which is supposed to allow a max of 256kb/s download speed. The problem is, I'm getting a max of 27kb/s on my downloads.
I've tried disconnecting my router and hooking directly up to the modem but I still have the same problem. I've also tried different ethernet cables but I get the same speed with all of them.
This is not really a Linux specific problem since I'm getting the same speeds on my wife's Mac and on her Windows laptop. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask about this problem but I know that the people on this site are pretty well informed and could maybe lead me in the right direction.
I was on the phone with my ISP for an hour this morning while they ran line tests which all turned out to be normal. They have a technician scheduled to come over to my house next week. It will cost me $80 if it's my problem and nothing if it's theirs.
Is there anyone else who's had problems with their connection speeds and fixed it? Any suggestions on what I can do? Am I correct in thinking that 27kb/s is too slow?
Thanks
