sleepd on older laptop

Hi,

I have an older laptop that seems to overheat when it sits for a day or so without being shut down. My father uses it, and isn't very computer savvy, so, I need to know a way to automatically shut down the computer after about 1 hour of inactivity. I have tried sleepd, but it doesn't work. I would prefer something that is configured with a GUI, so that my father isn't freaked out by it. Is there a frontend or gui for sleepd that anyone is aware of. Hibernate or Suspend is not an option. the computer is too unstable to handle it. The computer works ok, it just needs to be shutdown when it is idle, because my dad forgets to do it. If anyone knows of a good way to solve this problem, pls let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

I don't know if there is a graphical front-end for your distrobution, but try acpid (assuming the laptop supports ACPI). If it supports APM, try apmd.

Even if there's no front-end, you'll probably only have to write scripts once.
