Single mouse click acts as a double click

Code:

linux-uitj:/home/anisha # uname -a && cat /etc/*release
Linux linux-uitj 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-10-26 15:49:03 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
openSUSE 11.2 (x86_64)
VERSION = 11.2

If I normally click the Trash icon either in Kmail or in Evolution more than one mail gets deleted in a sequential order !

I have to press the click button extremely light to avoid this problem.

EDIT______________________
I have confirmed this problem is not only with the Email clients but even with most other normal applications too.
EDIT______________________

I have changed my mouse twice but the problem persists. Both were USB mice.

Below I have provided log information :

Is there a setting in YAST (or whatever the control centre is called nowadays) to control the sensitivity of the mouse click?

yooy 08-26-2010 02:47 AM

try also making double click interval longer
and
try with other mouse.

TheIndependentAquarius 08-31-2010 02:08 AM

Thanks to both of you for replying !

I know about Yast and there are settings for mouse control also, but I didn't try them because my mouse was working fine till a long time and a few days back it started misbehaving ! I had not earlier changed the settings that's why I didn't touch them this time too.

Now I have tested 5 mice, and only 2 worked properly !
Perhaps the other mice were actually damaged !!

What desktop are you using? This is a configuration item in KDE; you can set the system to open things and perform actions on a single click. I do believe this is the default. At least, it is how my desktop is set.

Thanks for replying :)

OpenSuse 11.2 and LXDE is the desktop here ! I am really confused now !

The default settings here too are "single click for opening files/folders" {screenshot attached}

BUT

I actually have to double click folders to open, with this (another) mouse I use now :confused:

Which mouse is actually damaged now ??
