Single Board Computer

What SBC would the community recommend for a wireless router project? Something with a few ethernet ports (3+), compaq flash as the storage for the os, x86 processor, and either a built in wireless card or an expansion slot for a wireless card. Also what card would you guys recommend for this type of project?

I did some quick google searching and could not really find anything with the specs you want. Found a few here but the limit is 1.1 USB ports. I would think you would want them just to add additional hardware.

There are several links from google for SBC boards. I would think just about anything would work overall except video. Just watch that.

Do a search for mini ITX motherboards. There are card readers that can hook up to the IDE connection. The maximum speed of flash cards is about 6 MB per second for versions that uses dual-channel configurations. The amount of writes and reads is limited to the quality of the flash card.

I suggest a wireless NIC based on Atheros, but I recommend using a wired NIC as your highest priority.

Buffalo Technologies has a wireless router that you can use 3rd party firmware. The router uses Linux and iptables for firewall.
