setting up a WLAN/who gets my money

I would like to setup a wireless network at home 802.11g. Who should I give my money too? Which hardware manufacturer works with the linux community in developing software support? Which hardware manufacturers don't? I don't like to give my money to crooks so please some advise would be nice

Here is a good link I found
It mentions some cards that are supported.
