Setting Refresh Rate
Hey. I'm using Vector 5 (Slackware 10.1) and I want to use 1024*768 resolution. The only problem is my monitor only supports this screen size at 60 HZ. When I select 1024*768 my screen goes blank. Is there a config file somewhere that I can change?

This is from the vector site.

Other than that, you may want to have a look at this. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ticle&artid=16 good luck. |
Refresh Rate
---------------
quote: Xserver configuration X Configuration - Video Question: Why does X start up in a low resolution? Answer: Basically the X setup just tries to use the best safe settings that the monitor reports back through the video card. Increase the resolution by running vasm as root and choosing "X setup", then "Set up screen" and choosing the resolution/colour depth you want. If this doesn't work you may need to alter settings in "Set up display" and "Set up video card" as well. --------------- I know how to change my resolution, however the Vector setup of X won't allow me to specify a refresh rate. (ie. 60 HZ, 72HZ, etc.) Colour depth and resolution, I can change, its the refresh rate I am after. The general XF86 FAQ is useless. Please help... Never mind. I've figured it out. |

When you get something working on your computer after asking for help in a forum, it is common courtesy to post "what you did to fix the problem" so that others searching after you find an answer. I found your thread by searching LQ while trying to help someone with a monitor refresh rate problem. But because you didn't post what you did, we don't know what solved your problem. Thanks for any additional information you might add... |
