Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

setting monitor gamma

Using redhat 9 and KDE 3.0 I need to set the gamma to 2.2 for photo use. I've tried downloading the latest KDE (which has gamma correction built in) using synaptic and apt with no success. With synaptic I configure one of the repositories listed at sourcefourge to no avail.

I tried using the command xgamma, but can't figure out how to set it to 2.2 If I use xgamma to set to 2.2 it sets all of the r, g, and b values to 2.2

Any advice on how to install the newest kde or use any other tool to set the gamma correction appreciated.
