Server buying help

There is a requirement of a Local Server in my Office in Linux.

Number of Employees (Client terminals ) - above 75 (expecting )
Operating system : Any Linux (Ubuntu is preferred )
Virtualization : Expects 3 concurrent VMs
Applications : DNS, LAMP, QGIS,pgSQL,other custome developed web programs,as a gateway,squid,Print server,Samba, LDAP etc.
If feasible, VPN (existing internet bandwidth 2-4 Mbps)

Budget : Indian Rupee Rs.75000-100000 ( Approx 1500$ - 2000$)

Question:
Which are the hardware specs ?
Which are the current models in this category?

Sorry, but you need to go look things up for yourself. We aren't going to spec out a server for you, compare prices, and hand you a link. You've been here since 2007, and should certainly know better than to ask for such things by now.

The number of employees doesn't matter in this scenario, since the services you mention aren't too resource intensive. You say "expects 3 concurrent VM's", but don't say HOW those VM's are going to run (VMWare esxI? Virtualbox? KVM?), which makes a difference. You also don't say what guest OS'es those VM's are going to run, which ALSO makes a difference. Find a box that fits your budget...get as much memory as you can afford.

Hi,

@sunils1973
Sizing and system generations can be a mounting task. If you do not have the expertise then I suggest that you & company should hire the tasks out to system consultants locally so that the systems can be customized to suit the requirements.

Gentle reminder for you since you have been a LQ member for over 8 years, maybe you should read: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...#faq_lqwelcome so that you do not fall into the same trap again.

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!
