Serial port problem on Ubuntu Feisty

I'm having serious problems with my serial ports on Ubuntu Feisty. Several Feisty users are having the same issue but nobody knows the solution so far.

The problem is that I'm not able to open or configure the serial port. I've tried with cu and minicom:

Code:
dberenguer@dberenguer1:~$ sudo cu -l ttyS0 -s 19200
Password:
cu: open (/dev/ttyS0): Permission denied
cu: ttyS0: Line in use
I've removed brltty as some users suggested but this doesn't solve the problem.

Any idea?

Thank you very much.

Daniel.

No.

Just need the serial ports for communicating with external devices using the minicom terminal. I encounter the same error even with no device connected to the serial port.

Ah, sorry, what I wanted to ask, Is this problem due to some fax software 'locking' the serial ports?
Hylafax, mgetty or so?
Try to uninstall it?
