Serial port communication in 'C' on Linux

I am working on Redhat Linux 9.0 and the microcontroller is connected to the serial port. How to establish a communication between MCU and PC in C language. Means it should be possible to write as well as read from the MCU. How to do that??? Please help me!!

Without knowing more details I will say that all you need is a serial communications application to talk to the microcontroller. kemit or minicom are a couple of apps.
