seeking HOWTO -- EmperorLinux(tm) kernel
I have a laptop from the folks at EmperorLinux. I'd like to find help with updating and customizing my kernel from someone else who has done it with the Emperor Linux "enhancements."
I don't know if this is native Ubuntu or an Emperor detail, but the running kernel config was found with gzip -dc /proc/config.gz.
My laptop was built with Ubuntu Hardy Heron (v8.04.3 LTS) and the "v18.104.22.168-emp" kernel. As the the most recent auto-update run, I now have the "v.2.6.24-26" kernel from Ubuntu repositories.
I am very satisfied with both the system and their support. I recommend them to others wanting a linux laptop.
Is there some reason we don't use a meta-package with kernels where the package includes dependencies for other things that the new kernel will break ... or something?
