Seeking graphic card recommendation

Hi folks,

Please recommend an economic PCIe graphic card, approx USD40- to match ECS nforce4-A939 mobo. The box to be built is for testing software only, not for game nor for graphic editing.

What RAM capacity will be sufficient /16/32/64/128 ?

TIA

Hey there,

If you're going to be running Linux on the computer with the new graphics card, I strongly recommend you get a Nvidia based card. Nvidia has much Linux better drivers than ATI cards, which can be a real hassle to get working.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what you can find in that price range. Most PCIe cards are fairly new and thus fairly expensive at the moment. The cheapest I've seen (both ATI and Nvidia) are between $60-70 USD.

Regarding the RAM, if it's not for gaming 64-128MB should be fine. I doubt you'll be able to find a PCIe card with anything less than that, but I don't think you'd need more.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Ovalteen,

Tks for your advice.

I found;
Leadtek WINFAST PX6200 TD
GF 6200 / 128MB / DDR RAM
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/wi...6200_td_1.html

Leadtek WINFAST PX360 TD
GF PCX 5750 / 128MB / DDR RA
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/wi...x360_td_1.html

both PCIe card with nVidia chipset.

PX360 TD is lower in price. PX6200 can run overclocking which I don't think I'll use. It is for playing games. To get PX6200 is solely for me learning the technique of setup overclocking when I have time.

Do you have any equivalent in mind with lower price.
