Hi! I'm having problems getting output to a second monitor, an overhead projector. I have an Asus laptop with nvidia card. This is in itself a problem, as the drivers are not open source. It was a s.o.b. to get it working under Debian. Ubuntu had it working in a limited way. Anyway, I now have a binary nvidia-settings. To avoid complications, I start it from a terminal as sudoer, so that it can write to xorg.conf. It sees the other monitor, I configure it as twinview. It re-writes the xorg.conf, but nothing happens. No change no output to the overhead projector. I've set the overhead to laptop. I boot with it already on and connected.

Any tips out there?

First, try posting the xorg.conf that nvidia-settings generates. Second, does nvidia-settings behave differently with the new xorg.conf? Does it show the project in a different way (disabled vs not plugged in for example)?
