I've got a 120Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA hard disk. Today, I tried to install Mandrake.
After selecting "English (Britain)", and agreeing to the license, it began to search for a "Silicon Image SATA Controller" or something approximating that. About 10 minutes later, I was presented with the following message.
insmod'ing module sata_sil failed at /
usr/bin/perl-install/modules.pm line 302
I was then asked whether I had "any other interfaces". NO presented a message saying I had no devices on which to create filesystems, so I selected YES. I saw what I assume to be a list of hard-disk drivers. I tried a few, like Seagate and some other SATA-related ones. Nothing worked.
I've done a fair bit of reading, but I can't find any useful information. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be, and what I can do about it?
I've tried burning another disc, thinking perhaps something was corrupted, but it did no good. I got my ISO from mandrakelinux.com, so it's not a corrupted ISO, either.
