Seagate FreeAgent 320GB Won't Load On Sabayon

I just finished downloading the sabayon linux disk (3.4f) yesterday. I popped it in, and the first time it loaded my external hard drive (seagate freeagent desktop 320GB). I installed on the external and it went over well. I restarted and booted into it then shut down and went off to do something. I came back, booted into it and got a init.d error, apparently it was missing. I booted the sabayon cd back in and loaded the installation, but the external shut down half way through. How come it worked the first time and not the second? Is there anyway i can make it load when i boot the installation?

Thanks
Nick
