SCSI emulation for cd-r

K3B for burning, plextor cd-r, 2.4.22 kernel.

I have read the other forum posts and cannot find SCSI anywhere in my kernel config, I enabled everything I could under SCSI and made appropriate changes to lilo.conf and K3B is still complaining that I dont have SCSI emulation enabled for my cdrom. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm,

What does cdrecord say:
cdrecord --scanbus

and

cat /proc/scsi/scsi

What distro are you running?

Is the ide-scsi module actually being loaded?

I am running Debian Woody, there is no /proc/scsi. When I do a "make menuconfig" I cant find any scsi emulation options.

I am still having problems. I have the module for scsi emulation compiled. I made the changes that the HOW-TO stated. When I run cdrecord -scanbus I get:

"cdrecord.mmap: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver."

Also K3B does not even recognize a cd burner anymore. I dont understand why this has to be so difficult. The HOW-TO had me:

rm /dev/cdrom
ln -s /dev/scd0 /dev/cdrom

That just doesnt seem right.

I think that I can fix this but I need to know how to make my system the way it was before I removed /dev/cdrom. Im stuck.
