scroll wheel and 3 button emulation

ok i know that to get a logitech optical scrool wheel to work you need to add the option ... "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" .. ive read post after post about this subject and they all say you cannot use 3 button emulation if the scrool wheel option is on. so my question is, if you dont have 3buttonemulation on...what are you using as ur 3rd button and how are you doing it?

The middle button is the same as pressing both buttons: paste.

Make sure you have this in
/etc/X11/XF86Config or
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Option "Emulate3Buttons"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
