Screen Resolution in Console Only (Cent 5)

Hello,

I installed Cent 5 without a gui. I have a 24" wide screen monitor. I don't like the default resolution. How do I increase it?

im pretty sure youll have to pass on option to the kernel via the bootloaders config, but search the forum and im sure youll find specific instructions

I did find some other threads that kind of explain it ... the problem is ... I can't make it work so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Unfortunately, I need a working example ... I'm kinda newbish like that.
