knoppix is not made to be installed (yes, i know you CAN install it anyway).

it is a swiss knife, show off 2 ur friends livecd.

regardless.. you need to run either xf86config or xorgconfig at the command line and either put in your correct video cards info, or use generic until you get into grafics mode, where you should be able to do more adjusting.

make sure you copy the final config file from xf86config (if you use it) to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (if necessary).

good luck.

If you have installed Knoppix, then possibly you can use the KDE control center (with the "working" monitor) to permanently modify display parameters to those that the other monitor will accept.

If you haven't actually "installed", but just copied the ISO to the harddrive using tohd, then you can use boot options (cheatcodes) to adjust resolution or refresh rate.

Good Luck

i'd be careful to make sure that i didn't go beyond what the working monitor will handle... or you can possibly damage it or the video card. better to be tooo cautious, unless you know for sure about the settings for both monitors. the same goes for video cards (especially, actually).

other than that your short cut seems plausable, as long as he has a chance to switch monitors BEFORE he actually gives the 'command'.
