Screen Blinks

My screen blinks every "X" minutes where "X" mimutes is the period of inactivity after which the computer should turn the monitor off. Even if I have been working, it will still blink every "X" minutes even if I have been working on the computer. I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 running SuSe 9.1 Personal. I have posted this topic here before, but so far no feedback. Anyone?

I had the same issue when I switched to xorg. I don't know what it was but when I did my upgrades recently, I noticed it didn't do it anymore. May want to upgrade your GUI programs, especially xorg, and see if it helps.

It is very annoying though isn't it? You can be moving the mouse or typing on the keyboard and blink, off it goes.

Hope that helps. I use Gentoo by the way. No clue how to upgrade SuSe.

Yep, it's very annoying. I don't have Xorg though, I have XFree. Thanks though. The next version of SuSe which is due out next month is supposed to resolve this issue on laptops.

I think the only difference between xfree and xorg is the licence thing. They may both have the bug, same bug that is.

I have to admit that I didn't have that before the switch so it may not be the same thing.
