Scanner not recognized in Ubuntu Epson Stylus NX510 printer/scanner

I was able to get my Epson Stylus NX510 printer up and running (after much issue), but I can't get the scanner working. I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.

I would very much appreciate your responses :)

:) Well, I got halfway.... I get this error message when I try to install certain packages:
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libltdl3 (>= 1.5.2-2)

And then I downloaded that and got everything all set and I was so excited and I checked and...
"No devices available" for xsane and "No scanners detected" from simple scan, and "Could not send command to scanner. Check the scanner's status" from the newly installed iScan...

I must be screwing it up somehow. It cannot possibly be this difficult when done correctly.

I can't help you in that point. I prefer HP because it has it'a own linux app and i never had a prob with scanner and printer and fax!!

*sigh* I wish more manufacturers were Linux-friendly. :(

Unfortunately i know only HP to have a relationship with linux. The other manufacturers are M$-frienly!!!

Well NOW I'm trying a dual boot with openSuse.... I can't get that stupid printer to even hook up as a REGULAR printer, let alone an all-in-one. I'm starting to lose my faith in the use-ability of linux. Ubuntu at least gets the basic printing working. I have stuff I need to print for school and I am really not liking openSUSE. I love the feel and the basic look of it, but if I can't get my printer working on it, then I'm scratching it off my list.
