Question SATA vs ATA?

Hi,

I have a question regarding SATA vs ATA/133. Basically is it worth installing a SATA drive?

From what I have read on various forums the only read difference between the two is the potential data transfer rate. 150Mbs as opposed to 133Mbs. The actual data read write speeds are basically the same averaging at about 50Mbs (or less). So is there any real benefit for having SATA. I have a mobo with built in SATA support and am wondering if it's wothwhile using.
Thanks for any input on this.

I haven't used SATA yet but from what I've heard SATA gets in excess of 100 MB/s and performs much better than the ATA133.
There's also increased air flow because you don't have the bulky cables blocking the air though I doubt that would actually increase performance very much unless your computer was getting really hot.

Performance wise. SATA 1 (current release) doesn't really have any advantages over trusty old ATA. Even though SATA has 150mbs bus speed. currently the drives still use the same board controller thing as P-ATA.

For the time being the only advantage of SATA is the cable used.
