SATA sii3112A on Suse 8.2

Hi, I want to install Suse 8.2 on a SATA hd with sii3112A controller (I have only this hd on my pc, no IDE). I downloaded driver for Linux from Silicon Image, during the installation (with F3) I was able to let Linux see the hd. But when I restart my pc, Linux seems to boot correctly, then the follow messages appears:

---
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda4" or 08:04
Please append a correct "root=" boot option

Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 08:04
---

I have three partition, one for WinXP (sorry, but Linux is not so easy to learn), one for swap and one for Linux. Can anyone help me? (ps: ASUS A7N8X, AthlonXP 2500, 515Mb RAM, I don't know if this information are usefull
