sata hdd takes too much time booting Ubuntu feisty

I got ubuntu feisty installed on an asus via based board.now the board went kaput and i am using a gigabyte intel 915GV board.I know that some differences exists.
i chrooted into feisty installation from livecd and dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.20.xx .it went fine and i can boot into Ubuntu Feisty.
but it takes around 5-6 minutes to boot in as some sata errors are shown.after these error exercise, though ubuntu boots.

although debian does not delay while booting.

how can i resolve this.is there anything wrong with hdd?

I suggest you do the following command as root

smartctl --all /dev/sda

If the program is not installed, then install it with apt-get smartmontools

All the command above does is output the SMART information of your hard disc. The disc has an onboard dedicated memory to store errors, and other paramaters such as spinup count, temperatures, etc

i can boot fast with "irqpoll" in grub kernel line.but that in turn makes my cd /dvd writers as /dev/sr0,/dev/scd0 etc that is as scsi ,although they are ide.I know that from kernel 2.6.19 onwards libata is merged or vice-versa.so any suggestions.below is the result with "irqpoll" appended to kernel line:

If you can confirm that this doesn't happen with a kernel from before 2.6.19, then you may have found a bug worthy of reporting

it aint a bug either.its just a choice to use which driver.i want to use the old pata drivers from alan cox.wishfully trying :-|
