sata + hda=ide-scsi

Hello,

i installed rh 10 on sata HD and created software raid, i use kernel 2.6. When i do cdrecord -scanbus i get

scsibus0
0,0,0 0) 'ATA' 'Maktor...' 'YAR5' disk
scsibus1
1,0,0 0) 'ATA' 'Maktor...' 'YAR5' disk

so far so good but when i add hda=ide-scsi to grub afterwards i get

scsibus0
1,0,0 0) 'DVDRW' 'IDE 16x' 'A07J' removable cd rom
scsibus1
1,0,0 0) 'ATA' 'Maktor...' 'YAR5' disk

When i do ln -s scd0 cdrom i still can't mount my dvdrw, i get

mount: special device /dev/cdrom does not exist

and why cant i see scsibus3???

I only encoutered this problem when using sata hdd, any ideas???

thaks,...

When you had ide-scsi=/dev/hda to the bootloader, the kernel should then make /dev/scd0 which it did. The device (probably a symbolic link) /dev/cdrom was pointing to /dev/hda. If it is a symbolic link, just change it. One reason why you can not see SCSI3 is because the SCSI luns limit of the pre-compiled kernel. You can bypass the limits by specifying how many SCSI luns you can have by added a command to the bootloader. Look in the kernel documentation.

I compiled my own kernel with 'probe all luns - enable' but it still did not work, why i have no idea.
I reinstalled the system and now it's working with the same kernel i precompiled before.

Thanks for the help Electro.
