How this design spec got through QA I will never know.

The best way to use SATA in a RAID envioroment is to use a drop of hot glue on the outside of the connectors to attach the SATA cable to the SATA drive and the RAID card.


The cable, as made, will "wiggle"; this causes drives to drop from the array as "failed".
After the hot glue drop treatment the array is stable.
Not too much glue or you cannot change the drive when one drive really fails.
