Angry SAS HBA working in Linux?

Hi all,
I'm looking for an SAS HBA (non RAID) to connect a tapedrive library.

Unfortunately i need a low profile with an external connector (miniSAS - SF8088) that has drivers for Linux (possibly in the Kernel - so no need to compile or install modules)

I've tried the Adaptec 1045 but they provide just a binary closed module for SUSE and RED Hat (Anything else not working - asked their tech support).
So need to send it back and get another one... Is anyone else using successfully a NON RAID SAS HBA with linux?

And is the Areca 1300x working with the kernel 2.6.27.23?

Thank you all

P.S. for admins

Update the HCL and add Areca in the I/O Cards
