Hi there,
SuSE comes with a great tool called SaX2, so all you should have to do is login as your root user or su from your regular user.
I assume that this error mentioned above dumps you back to console? If so, type (as root) init 3 and then type sax2 (still from root).
From there, follow the prompts (an app will launch giving you several options to get your setup working)
Final step is to 'test' the X server and verify that everything is displayed as expected and voila!
