Question Samsung CLP 620ND printer issues

I am trying to get my Samsung CLP 620ND printer to work properly on Linux. I first tried installing the Samsung Unified drivers. Originally I was using Fedora 14 and kept geting SeLinux security messages. Also print jobs would never print and would always come up as "stopped" in the print queue. I recently updated to Fedora 16 and the security messages went away. Now if I try to use the Samsung drivers it just gives me the message "stopped" in the print queue.

I did eventually get the printer to print by using the foo2qpdl drivers. Now the problem is that I'm limited to resolution 1200x600 and it is now printing images very dark. Adjusting setttings such as the saturation and gamma seem to have little noticeable effect.

Before I upgraded to Fedora 16 I had to remove and reinstall CUPS because it eventually stopped printing anything. It would cause the printer to warm up but not print anything. That has been fixed though.

Is there any way to either get the Samsung Unified drivers to install properly or adjust the foo2qpdl drivers to print images much ligher.

OS: Fedora 16
Kernel version: 3.1.7-1.fc16.x86_64

Did you get your Samsung printer working in Fedora 16 ?
I have a Samsung CLX-3175FN that won't print using the Samsung driver, It worked in Fedora 13,14,15 but not in Fedora 16.
It is detected by system-config-printer as a network printer.

But everytime I try to print I get a error of

/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertosamsungsplc failed

I have uninstalled and installed the Samsung driver about three times, but I get the same Error Message.

I forgot to add, When installing Samsung unified driver in terminal, I had to always do a su - before installing from /cdroot/Linux sh install.sh

Solved CLP-620ND with Ubuntu 64 bit 12.04 (Precise Pangolin)

The stock CLP-620ND driver works only in monochrome. All color printing just hums for a while and outputs nothing.

To get everything working in color I installed it as a CLP-660ND printer. The installation did not go smoothly as it refused to accept the plxcolor driver. But when I first installed the printer chosing the PostScript driver and after that installed it with the plxcolor driver everything works nicely.

The printer still reports a paper jam all the time. But it does not affect operations.

Device URL:
dnssd://Samsung%20CLP-620%20Series%20(SEC001599A5D549)._pdl-datastream._tcp.local/

Make and Model:
Samsung CLP-660ND Foomatic/pxlcolor (recommended)

Hope this helps

The best way to get Samsung printers to work is with their own Unified Driver. But that is not compatible with SEL, so if you have Fedora or CentOS you need to do
su -c "setenforce 0"
before printing and
su -c "setenforce 1"
when you're done. Irritating, but you get used to it eventually.
