I have searched for help getting this setup but haven't found anything. I am a bit new at this but would like to use a new Samson C01U usb microphone for recording on my linux box. The beast works fine under windows, just plug and play.
When I plug in the mic and then run dmesg I get the following output:
usb 4-2: new full speed usb device detected using address 4
usb 4-2: Product: Samson C01U
usb 4-2: Manufacturer Samson Technologies
Then a check of lsusb gives me the following:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 17a0:0001
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 058f:9360 Alcor Micro Corp.
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1241:1166 Belkin (?)
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
So it seems that it was recognized and given an ID number (even if the comment on Device 004 doesn't include any text).
I then went to KMix and set the microphone to record but am getting nothing. What do I need to do next?
