Question Same sound card chipset

Hi,

The driver for Audigy 7.1 does exist but there is no entry on Audigy HD2: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/ind...ndor-AudioTrak

Since both cards use the same chipset, Audigy HD2 might work under linux as well. Am I right?

Let me rephrase the question.

I am thinking of buying Audiotrak Prodigy HD2. But I am not sure whether it will work under linux. The other similar Audiotrak product which is Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 works under linux. The Alsa project includes its driver.

Both Prodigy HD2 and Prodigy 7.1 uses the same chipset, which is ENVY24HT.

There is no entry on Prodigy HD2 on Alsa project website. However, Prodigy HD2 uses the same chipset as Prodigy 7.1. So I am guessing that the same driver for Prodigy 7.1 should work with Prodigy HD2 as well.

Am I right?

p.s I am intending to use this PCI sound card on Ubuntu 7.10.

Exclamation Yea, whats the deal with this?

I have the same question. I'm looking for a low profile audio card with an optical out for my slim HTPC as well. I plan on using Ubuntu 7.10+, and would love to know if the Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 will work. Does anyone know if the Linux drivers for the Prodigy 7.1 will work with this card? Thanks in advance.

I found another site, at alsa-project.org of 1.0.16RC1 changelog http://www.alsa-project.org/main/ind....15_v1.0.16rc1

Under the heading ICE1712 driver and ICE1724 driver, it states:

"ICE1724: Added support for Audiotrak Prodigy 7.1 HiFi & HD2, Hercules Fortissimo IV"

64-bit drivers

I like the ICE1712/24 driver solution. Looks promising. However the problem in the last Ubuntuforums.org link doesn't bode well. Maybe oryaaaaa has the fix for this. Also, I am wondering if these drivers will work in 64-bit mode.

The people at alsa-project.org has made both Prodigy 7.1 and Prodigy HD2 works in the alsa version 1.0.16.
See https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/al...ew.php?id=2384

Also, support for Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 is included in the 2.6.25 kernel:
http://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_2_6_2...0f5ac786f652d0
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kerne...975a1bd33f0ccc

I tried upgrading ALSA to 1.0.16 in ubuntu 7.10 but I failed to make it work. I will be trying fedora 9 (kernel: 2.6.25 alsa: 1.0.16) and let you guys know.

Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 works in Fedora 9 beta out of the box! Both live and after installation.

Here are the screenshots:

Alright, so I compiled the latest kernel (2.6.25.1) to my Linux Mint 4.0 and now I got the Prodigy HD2 working!

I used kernelcheck to upgrade to the latest kernel. Here is the instruction: http://www.ubuntu-unleashed.com/2007...rnel-with.html

After compiling, I reinstalled NVIDIA driver. After logging in, I got an ugly 640x400 resolution. No problem, just change it to the screen native resolution.

Prodigy H2

Under CentOS 5.2 the Prodigy HD2 plays, but no capture. Has any one been able to record with the HD2?
