saitek gm2 mouse and pad configure?

I have the Saitek GM2 games mouse and pad where the mouse connects to the pad and then a single usb cable connects both to PC.

Last time I tried to make them work I messed everything up(system) and being fairly new to linux wondered if anyone here has this configuration or knows how to make it work.

I am using Suse 8.2.

Any ideas plz?

If you have managed to configure it, I am trying to do that as well... Please post how you did it (if you managed).

Yes, i was able to use it quite well:

In the game i wanted to use it in i simply had to 'enable joystick' in the in game settings then assign the keys accordingly,

It seems that i was seeking a more complicated solution than was necessary.

For the mouse to be detected I inserted boot cd and selected 'update system' pushing any 'joypad keys' outside of a game would result in the mouse freezing and another 'system update'.

After intermitent periods of normal operation the mouse would freeze spontaneously and I would then 'update system' again.

I once had the mouse wheel working but mostly made do without it.

Everytime I perform the system update the same package is updated 'gcc' i think so I assume that this package breaks.

The mouse has good sensitivity and its movements seem to be accurately detected under linux ( suse 8.2). Quite unlike my optical mouse which is 'spongily' detected.

Hope this helps.
