SAA7134 base TV Card problem in OpenSuse 10.2

OpenSuse 10.2

I have a SAA7134 base TV card, which I have been able to configure in Fedora 6 with the following line in
/etc/modprobe.con
options saa7134 card=3 tuner=38

But in OpenSuse 10.2 it is automatically configuring the Card as FlyVideo 2000 throught YAST. But when I am trying to view TV in XawTV or KDETV, I am only getting sound and no picture.

My lspci command shows this output.

01:0b.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7130 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev 01)

Please help.

you will need to get and install the latest v4l stuff

http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/
you will dee the kernel source also

it will add the new entries to /usr/src/linux-2.6.20/Documentation/ and allow you to configure it through yast

But I feel it is a problem with the exact card and tuner no. for OpenSuse to detect and configure the card accorindly. I feel so because I am already getting the sound. I can see the V4L driver in KDETV.

Ignore drpt post. You do not need to patch anything.

I recommend using tvtime to test the card. Do not use xawtv and kdetv to test the card. xawtv and kdetv are worthless for SAA7134 based video capture cards. Select either S-Video or composite instead of using the tuner. If the tuner is not set right, you will get nothing.

I use the following command for tvtime.

tvtime -x /dev/mixer:line -d /dev/video0

For 2.6.x kernels, the file will to load modules is /etc/modules.conf. Fedora is an exception because it is patched to use the old way which is /etc/modprobe.conf. IMHO, SUSE sucks because it depends on GUI programs that can screw up your setup.

I am reopening the thread because the same problem resurfaced. Again I can see the picture but no sound. Unfortunately this time using that "tvtime -x /dev/mixer:line -d /dev/video0" command is also not working.

My distro is OpenSuse 10.2. The Card is autodetected as FlyVideo 2000 and Yast says it has no tuner. I can't understand where the problem lies. I have checked the connection. Everything is fine because in the same hardware setup I am getting picture and sound in Windows.

Please help.

I feel it might the wrong tuner description which is the problem here. As YAST is saying no tuner that setting might be the problem. If someone here can help me with how to set the correct card and tuner settings it will be great for me.
