Running Linux on a Samsung P2
Dear all,
I'd just like to know whether one of you guys has successfully install Linux on is P2. I mean, not to use it as a portable Linux but to run Linux instead of the default (somewhat good) OS. What's you experience with that. Thanks, Éric. |
how much ram ?
"Damn Small Linux" needs 32 meg min. do you need a gui ? what do you want to do with it ? Quote:

well, i don't know the name of the firmware.
By the way I did not think about the ram! Code:
Main Chipset: 32Bit Dual Core (16k/16k Cash, up to 192MHz) (Telechips - TCC7801) Thanks, Éric. |
I assume you are referring to the MP3 player and so would not be compatable with a "standard" x86 distribution. rockbox does not appear to run on the P2.

yeah, rockbox does not handle the P2.
Actually, the memory is 3764MB. I've read some old discussions about that but did not find recent ones. So, I was wondering whether it is finally possible or not. The answer seems to be negative. Thank you for your reply guys. Éric. |
Isn't the Samsung P2 a phone?
|
Not familiar with a Sumsung P2 phone. The OP has not been real forthcoming with details.
|
Opps, Looks like a phone. The one I was thinking about is really a mp3 player.
dunno. Hope the OP tells us. |
it is a MP3 player.
|
Then I'd guess all of the above is meaningless.
I doubt you would get much of an OS on a mp3 player. I'd suspect it is some linux or bsd or qnx (almost zero chance of qnx) in an embedded form. Might be an assembly OS even. There just isn't enough hardware to run much on a mp3. They are single purpose devices. |
ok, thank you.
I was not quit sure about that. Éric. |
