running fedora live (cd, usb, sd)
hi, i know running from live cd or dvd can be slow because of the need to wait for the drive to spin up to speed.
my question is: what runs faster: booting fedora-live from usb, from the hard drive, or from the sd card ? thanks, |
well, you can boot fedora live from hd 2 ways; as you do from usb, frugal
or as a full hd install (normal install) it will run from hd install probably a little faster than frugal hd install it will run from any hd install faster than usb usb faster than cd why do you wanna know? |
thx, i was planning on buying a sd card since my new work laptop has the ability to boot from sd card. but if if it is slower than live-usb, then it would be a waste of money.
my current fc-11 live-usb kinda' chugs sometimes... |
not sure about sd card
it should be comparable to a usb I would think but not sure... its probably worth a shot though fastest boot I've seen from usb is Sidux-2009.02-xfce |
OH
whats on the lappy windows only? |
^ yeah work pc so i cant touch the harddrive.
|
I do know that the LXDE edition boots faster in any situation vs the gnome edition
http://www.compatdb.org/support/topi..._remix_11.html http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Syste...ix-48481.shtml you gonna run persistent off usb/sd card? |
persistant, yeah.
i was asking if sd technology has faster read/ write than usb 2.0 ? |
