Ricoh Aficio multifunction device under Linux

We have one multi-function b&W unit- printer, scanner& copier which has till date been functioning as an independent copier machine. Now we would like to configure this Model- Ricoh Aficio MP2000Le as a network printer under Linux. Well, it has been assigned one local IP number and my linux machine running a version of Ubuntu has identified this machine. But the driver doesn't seem to get installed although linux openprinting database says it is "perfectly" supported. All the commands for printing test page goes into queue but ultimately no response from the printer. In fact it is not functioning under Windows XP or 7 also. Any suggestions in this regard?

Could be the hardware but before you go there I would suggest checking

Is cups installed and the daemon enabled ?

ps auwx | grep cups

if not -->

sudo aptitude install cups  / pacman -S cups / yum -i cups ---> Not sure what you are running.

Is it configured correctly ?

Policies :
State --> Enabled / Acceping Jobs / Shared
Error Policy : Retry current job
