Hi..hopefully someone has seen this issue and might be able to help, I have exhausted all avenues and can't figure this one out.
My ATI radeon doesn't seem too happy about running *ANY* fullscreen openGL applications. Upon trying to run Tuxracer or Unreal Tournament I get this horrid "staircase" effect on my screen, which consists of a mishmash of X-windows and the GL app's graphics smashed together.
DRI is enabled, glxgears and fgl_glxgears run along happily in their windows and give me great framerates (well over 1000 for glxgears, 110+ for fgl_glxgears). Here is my "fglrxinfo" output:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Radeon 8500 DDR Athlon (3DNow!)
OpenGL version string: 1.3 (X4.3.0-3.2.8)
I have NO idea why windowed GL would work so beautifully and fullscreen looks a mess.
I have an ATI Radeon 8500 (Retail box, built by ATI) running on a Tyan S2390B VIA KT133A chipset based motherboard. Running Red Hat 9.0 and official ATI "fglrx" drivers for X-4.3.0.
Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated! Crossing my fingers..
