RH 9 Install CD. Issues with the install

I'm installing off the distro cd RH 9. New motherboard and HD. I cant make it past a certain point either right at /sbin/loader or right after it. I get all sorts of Hex values and crap on the screen and then it either reboots or freezes. How can I track down whats happening. This is a new install on a new HD and new motherboard.

Last time I got install exited abnormally -- received signal 11, sending termination signal, sending kill signals.

Next time I get Kernal Bug at page_alloc.c:172!
CPU: 0
EIP: 0060:[<c0314ef9>] Not tainted

...

Kernal Panic

Anyone .. bad CD, bad HDD, something with the motherboard?

My wild guess would be the motherboard but you don't know for sure until you can do some detailed diagnostics. I suggest that you first test the install CDs by trying the install on another computer. Next, if the CDs test good, try swapping out the hard drive with a known good one. If the install still fails, get rid of that motherboard immediately.

Check with hardware compatability list at RH's website to verify that your new hardware works with the OS.

I have been doing some looking and I have seen that this one error I got had to do with the memory which was a 512 DDR stick. Going to reisntall my old motherboard with the new HD and see what I get.

Red Flag found! The one time that I tried a motherboard with DDR memory, it was defective also. However, it took about 6 hours for the problem to appear (I run diagnostics in the form of Prime95 for at least 24 hours straight in order to flush exactly these kinds of problems out into the open). My suggestion is to dump that new motherboard and DDR memory immediately and get something that doesn't use DDR memory.

I suspect that all of your problems here will go away.
