Resize Reiser without data loss

Hi All!

I currently have a computer with a "120 gig" harddrive with a single 115 gig partition. I need to cut the size of the partition in half. How do I do this without data loss?

I have searched google and all the programs I have found have promised to do it but none in Linux. They are all windows based. I am currently running of a knoppix 3.3 CD just to post this message. I thought about transfering the data to another disk, but of the 4 other harddrives I have they are all messed up. SO i cannot.

If anyone knows how to safely resize the partition, please let me know.

Thanks.

It is reiser 3.6 I believe.

i used the resize_reiser command and it took about 2 hours to do. But I think it only changed the file system
I need to change the partition now without data loss (if I have correctly understood).

How do I do this? I have only ever used fdisk to make partitions and delete never resize.

you have to delete the partition (scary I know) then create it again STARTING AT THE SAME BLOCK! to the size you need. your filesystem will be intact and everything should work.

if I were you, just to be safe, I'd make the new partition just a bit larger, then run the resize command without any arguments on the partition to bring it up to the size of the new, slightly larger partition.
