Reference:RedHat Installation on SATA drive with Promise 376

This is a quick reference because I found no other post about it.

If you are installing Red Hat linux on a SATA drive and you have a Promise controller built into the motherboard... Here's what you do.

Don't email promise or your motherboard manufacturer. They won't help you.

On your buddy's box (can be windows). Go to promise.com Go to the support section... And then download. Select the fasttrak TX4000, drive and RedHat from the drop-downs. Grab the most recent build and download. It is in a zip, so you must unzip it. Put all of the contents onto a floppy.

(Behold the uber driver disk)

Go to your box and boot to the 1st CD.
When the boot dialog comes up, type "Expert" (no quotes)
Let it do it's thing.
Have it check the CD if you want (Does anyone ever do that anyway?)
Tell it to "Add Device"
Hit F2 to add from disk
Choose fd0
And wait... Success should come to you... Continue the installation as if you were installing on PATA drive.
