Reduced disk space

OS: RHEL AS 5 64-bit

HDD:300 GB Hardware mirror (HP blade bl460c)

While installing OS, in partition window after OS file system structure I've left 277 GB. But after installation it shows Size - 255GB and available disk space is 242 GB.

Isn't it weired? How can I use the total amount of space in Linux? I need the whole 277GB exactly. What should be my workaround?

It's Urgent.

If you need at least 277GB I would say getting more hard drive space is the answer (bigger drive and/or additional drive).

Assuming you used ext3 file system you lost about the correct amount. If you need more space then you will have to add it (the solution).

You looked...

I assume that you looked at the partition table with "fdisk -l" and found nothing mysterious or incomprehensible.

The sizes given to HDD are nominal to begin with. After Partitioning and formatting, they are smaller.

Hi guyz, Thanks for your reply's. But the reply's doesn't reflecting the actual scenario. 277 GB disk became 260 GB is abnormal.

BTW, I have found the solution by myself. Thanks again to all.

You found...

You found a solution, thanked all of the efforts made, but didn't help us in our ignorance. What was wrong and what did you do?
