RedHat didn't recognize HDD properties correctly

Hi folks,

My system works so this is probably not so hot.... BUT!

I realized only just now that the real amount of cylinders/heads/sectors (disk geometry) on my HDD is different than what redhat shows after I call
Code:
hdparm /dev/hda
.
1. Can this affect the system stability or performance in any way?
2. Is there any way how I can tell the system what the correct values are? If I do this, wouldn't this corrupt my partition?

Thanks a million!

no it doest corrupt your partion i did nothing happend but it is always good to fschk after changing values there is a file called harddisk in /etc/sysconfig you can fine tune the spec from there. after changing do not forget to fschk after a few boots.
